Do you know the location of an historic cemetery? The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission is conducting a survey of historic cemeteries in Prince George's County to record those the locations of forgotten cemeteries. Historic cemeteries are valuable elements of the county's cultural heritage; they commemorate our families and ancestors.
Starting in November, surveyors will visit approximately 130 cemeteries in Prince George's County to verify their location and document their condition. Please download and complete a cemetery survey if you have a cemetery on your property. You can also download a flyer to share with your neighbors. With your help, we can rediscover lost cemeteries and preserve them. For questions about the survey project, please contact Jennifer Stabler, Staff Archaeologist, at Jennifer.Stabler@ppd.mncppc.org or 301-952-5595.
