Prince George’s County Planning Department in Partnership with the
City of Greenbelt to Host Meeting on Bike Share Program
Upper Marlboro, MD -- The Prince George’s County Planning Department of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) and the City of Greenbelt are hosting a community meeting to discuss the possible expansion of a bike share system in Prince George’s County. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at 25 Crescent Road, Greenbelt, Maryland, in the City Council Room of the Greenbelt Municipal Building.
The Planning Department’s consultant team led by Toole Design Group will provide an overview of the current feasibility study, identify opportunities and constraints in the area, and gather input and ideas for how bike share can best serve the community. Bike share programs provide additional transportation options, reduce gas emissions that can be harmful to the environment, and provide added health and economic benefits. More than 80 percent of Capital Bikeshare members surveyed reported saving money on weekly travel costs.
Following the public input process, the Planning Department with Toole Design will provide recommendations for a bike share system followed by a short term implementation plan for funding coming this winter. For additional information, please contact Fred Shaffer of the Prince George’s County Planning Department at 301-952-3661 or email@example.com.
