Purple Line TOD Study

The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA), the agency tasked with designing and constructing the proposed Purple Line light rail line, is scheduling its next round of neighborhood workgroup meetings. For more information on the MTA's outreach efforts and upcoming meetings, please click here.

On October 7, 2011, Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley announced that the MTA had received federal approval to proceed with preliminary engineering (PE) and preparation of a final environmental impact statement (FEIS) for the Purple Line light rail transit project. In conjunction with MTA’s start-up of the PE/FEIS, the Prince George’s County Planning Department of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission is working with local residents, business owners, and other key community stakeholders to develop transit-oriented community plans for five Purple Line station areas that are not within approved sector or transit district development plan areas.
