Branch Avenue Metro Station
Branch Avenue is the terminal station on the Green Line located north of the MD 5 interchange with the Capital Beltway. This site has exceptional regional access but is also a district constrained by wetlands and major roadways. The southwest part of the area is dominated by automobile dealerships, transitioning to scattered mid-rise office buildings. The station itself is surrounded by surface parking that WMATA has studied for potential joint development.
Recent development north of the station includes apartment and condominium buildings, and retail space in mixed-use buildings. There are approved plans for the remainer of the undeveloped property north of the station parking lot.
A large office development is proposed for the site immediately east of the station in competition with the proposed project for GSA at Naylor Road. Like Naylor Road, the Branch Avenue station area is a state designated TOD site.
