New Mixed-Use Zone

The legislation which created the new Mixed-Use Zone—also known as the Subtitle 27A in the Prince George's County Code—was approved by the County Council on March 9, 2010. Several companion pieces of legislation were also approved to clarify the relationship of the new Mixed-Use Zone to certain provisions of the Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Regulations.

Notes from public meetings

The goals of this project are:

To develop a mixed-use zone to implement the policy recommendations of the 2002 General Plan for select centers and corridor nodes.
To streamline and standardize regulations and processes, and incentive development in and around the county’s most important transit resources.
To offer an alternative to the existing mixed-use zones, design-oriented overlay zoning tools, and comprehensive design zones currently legislated in the county’s Zoning Ordinance.
