Easements

The Prince George’s County historic preservation easement is a contractual agreement between M-NCPPC and a property owner designed to protect historically significant properties in the County. The easement is perpetual in that the agreement remains with the property regardless of ownership. The terms of the easement, once negotiated, generally require that the owner maintains the property, obtains approval before making changes, and provides limited public access. Currently, M-NCPPC holds over 40 preservation easements.
