TRIR July 11, 2019 Web Update
Recently completed activities include: completion of detailed negotiations of contractual terms and conditions of the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) with Forrester Construction, the construction manager for the project; completion of facility construction documents, procurement of the services of a Third-Party Inspection consultant/engineering firm and secured utility cut off notices from Verizon and WSSC. Finalization of the GMP was particularly time-consuming due to the need to negotiate material changes in its terms and conditions.
Upcoming tasks include: execution of the GMP, procuring consultant services for building construction inspection services, and obtaining formal service termination verification from Verizon and WSSC in order to secure county permits to raze the building and demolish the ice rink.
Anticipated milestones and activities as developed by Forrester Construction include:
- Early Summer 2019 – Executed Guaranteed Maximum Price
- Summer 2019 – Site Permits released and Building Permit Submission expected
- Summer 2019 – Demolition/ New Construction begins
- Fall 2020 – Completion of on-site construction activities
Actual dates for the completion of the milestones are subject to change.
The current projected schedule reflects the additional time that was required to complete the initial procurement process, and the time associated with securing supplemental funding during the FY19 budget process. The anticipated project completion is Fall of 2020. Forrester Construction will continue to refine the project schedule based on work progress and other factors that influence the project delivery.
A “Goodbye to the old…Hello to the new Tucker Road Ice Rink” celebration is planned for Wednesday, July 31, 2019. This event will afford the public an opportunity to share reflections from their past experiences at the Tucker Road facility and wishes for the new ice rink. A variety of other activities are planned too. Stay tuned for the official invitation.
