M-NCPPC Hosts Summer Soccer Kickoff Watch Parties and Youth Tournaments in Prince George’s County
LARGO, Md. – The Prince George’s County Planning Department and the M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission will host Summer Soccer Kickoff Watch Parties and Youth Soccer Tournaments on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Fletcher’s Field in Riverdale and on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Heurich Park in Hyattsville. The free, family-friendly events celebrating the world’s largest soccer tournament are part of the agency’s ongoing placemaking efforts to reimagine public spaces and highlight recreational programming across Prince George’s County.
“Creating opportunities for residents to gather, connect, and enjoy shared experiences are critical to our mission,” said James Hunt, Acting Planning Director, Prince George’s County Planning Department. “Events like these demonstrate how public spaces can bring communities together while supporting youth development and recreation.”
“Soccer is the world’s premiere sport; it unites communities, cultures, and generations. That’s exactly the energy we want to create in Prince George’s County this summer,” said Darius A. Stanton, Director of M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County. “We want to encourage the community to come out, feel the excitement and cheer on the greatest players in the world. Soccer Clinics and Youth Tournament for players ages 6–14, 1 – 4 p.m.
England vs. Panama, match at 5 p.m.
Colombia vs. Portugal at 7:30 p.m.
