Past Public Charrette
A public charrette for the Northern Prince George’s East-West Bikeway Feasibility Study was held on Monday, April 20, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at the Park and Recreation Administration Auditorium in Riverdale Park, MD. The session provided an opportunity for public review and comment as the County continues work on the 2-mile bikeway feasibility study, which is due on June 30, 2026.
Overview
The Northern Prince George’s East-West Bikeway is an approximately 10-mile bikeway proposed bikeway project extending between Lanham and Lewisdale, which will connect four shared-use paths, the WB&A Trail, the Northeast Branch Trail, the Trolley Trail, and the Northwest Branch Trail, as well as schools, passenger rail stations, and commercial/employment sites. The NPGEWB Feasibility Study represents the first phase of this proposed bikeway. It is focused on a 2-mile segment between River Road near MD 201/Kenilworth Avenue in Riverdale Park and the western terminus of Longbranch Drive at Wildercroft Park in New Carrollton.
This study is funded through a Transportation and Land Use Connections grant from the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments to the Prince George’s County Planning Department. A public charrette took place on Monday, April 20, 2026, from 6 to 8 pm in the auditorium at the Prince George’s County Department of Parks and Recreation Administration Building located at 6600 Kenilworth Avenue in Riverdale Park, where the proposed alignment and bikeway design options was presented. The public was invited to provide input on alignment and design options.
The NPGEWB Feasibility Study will be completed by June 30, 2026. It is expected the completed study will serve to support additional feasibility studies of the remaining segments of the NPGEWB and/or serve as a basis for additional engineering and design plans.
