Preservation Easement Application

Historic Preservation Easement

The Prince George’s County Historic Preservation easement is a contractual agreement between M-NCPPC and a property owner designed to protect historically significant properties in the County. The easement is perpetual in that the agreement remains with the property regardless of ownership. Once negotiated, the terms of the easement generally require that the owner maintains the property, obtains approval before making changes, and provides limited public access. Currently, M-NCPPC holds over 40 preservation easements.

Preservation Easement Holder

To become a preservation easement holder, you can apply for a Prince George’s County Historic Property Grant Award. Awards are given up to $50,000 to maintain and improve qualifying historic properties.
